The Chios Mastic Museum

The Chios Mastic Museum is located in the Mastichochoria (literally: mastic villages), a group of medieval villages in Southern Chios, the only site in the Mediterranean where the mastic tree is grown. The permanent exhibition introduces visitors to the traditional art of mastic cultivation, explains how mastic shaped the agricultural landscape of the region, and sheds light on an important aspect of Greek productive history, showcasing the various uses for mastic.

Visitors enjoy an exemplary modern-day Museum experience. Rich photographic archival material, video and audio productions, authentic machinery, testimonials and new, multi-media applications, will introduce you to the aromatic world of mastic.
